I'm Susan Wojciechowski, Founder of Ewe-niversity, Inc. and these are my original patterns.
The inspiration for these eggs came over 30 years ago when my daughter spent part of her summers attending a Polish cultural school. Parents were encouraged to participate with numerous student projects related to Polish history, customs, music, dance and folk art.
This was my first exposure to, and I quickly fell in love with, the Polish art of egg decorating known as Pisanki. Pisanki are created by alternately etching designs in beeswax on hollowed birds’ eggs and dyeing them in a variety of colors. It took patience and practice, but I eventually honed my skills to a point where I could create really nice looking eggs.
As a quilter with a knack for applique and embroidery, I also have a love for colorful textiles and carefully curated embellishments.
Over time, I developed an intense appreciation for working with wool. Inspiration led to innovative fusion and the Appliqued and Embroidered Wool Eggs were born.
